The History of BladderWrack

This is the third incarnation of the phenomenon that is BladderWrack. Back in, or around, May 2007, the founding fathers, Evil Len (rhythm guitar) and Mark (drums) started a band from the ashes of a previous band called Decades, with a guy called Karl (lead guitar). The erstwhile trio then went on the hunt for a bassist and found Bob Croft (bass guitar). That was how BladderWrack came to be. However after a single half hour gig, Karl turned out to be focussed in a different musical direction, as far as live performance went, to the other band members, so after a barely legible drunken email from Mark, Karl decided to leave. Plans were put in place to replace him. Various websites of ill repute were trawled through, various lead guitarists were dallied with, the culmination of which was that Pete (lead guitar) turned up for an audition and refused to go away.

Consequently, in November 2007 the second version of Bladder Wrack was formed, with Bob now on lead vocal role as well as the bass. The band put together a set of rock and pop numbers and hit the pub gig circuit again. As time went on, for just over a year there were many notable successes but, Bob wanted to play a different style of music to the other three and as a consequence of this and external pressures he left.

Evil Len, Mark and Pete ditched the gentle ballads and dragged a collection of hard hitting rock tracks into the set, then set about recruiting a bassist and lead vocalist/front man. Adverts and auditions ensued, with the great success of finding two perfect band members for BladderWrack. Graeme, lead vocalist and front man extraordinaire joined to add his considerable vocal talent and performance expertise to the line up. Years of classic rock experience, ongoing training in live sound production and Scottish charm (charm? - well that’s one word for it !!) make this guy an ideal focal point for the band.  Barrie, “Baz the Bass”, or “The Bazmeister Generale”, took the bass guitarist spot. Baz adds a solidity and creativity to compliment Marks playing talent in the “engine room” – the rhythm section. He brings years of experience with him too, both as a bassist and an accomplished guitarist, but also a passion to play ROCK music.

So ...

Five guys, one direction - Classic Rock. Be prepared for the best BladderWrack ever. A band formed to raise the bar on quality of performance with better vocals, a focussed rhythm section and Evil Len expanding his role to both lead and rhythm guitar work... and Pete (well you can’t have everything!).
